Car: 1998 Trans/Am, 1989 RS Camaro
Engine: LS1, LQ9 6.0
Transmission: 4L60E, 4L60E
Axle/Gears: 2.73, 2.73
1991 Camaro Vert Ls1 Swap and 4th gen interior swap
So i have had several 3rd gens but never a vert. I have always wanted one but never seen one for sale locally. I finally found this one. 1991 5.0 H.O. A4.
Donor car: 2000 SLP Camaro A4
Starting install of Interior. I am using the full 4th gen HVAC set up.
The car had the entire 3rd gen wiring harness removed and now has the 4th gen harness. Everything works as it did in the 4th gen. The only 3rd gen interior trim it will keep is the vert specific pieces.
If you ever consider doing the full 4th gen interior swap be ready to get out your cutting wheels and welder because there isn't much that doesn't require heavy modification. I have been working on the car everyday after work for a month to get to where i am now.
4th gen rear is already installed, it is equipped with 3.73's and a Massive performance adj. panhard bar. The plastic 4th gen fuel tank is also mounted in the rear. I have Stainless 1 5/8 long tube headers for exhaust. Transmission mods are unknown but the case looks to have a fresh paint job with a billet servo cover. Engine is stock with LS6 intake and MSD wires. Engine will be sitting on Sphon motor mounts.
Tomorrow I have to figure out how I am going to run the wires to the rear of the car. Being a vert its a little harder to run a large bundle of wires and keep it clean without tearing up that glued in carpet. I have already got the 4th gen tail light harness installed and working. I also have all the door wiring complete (full power car)

She will be nice when it is done! Work so far looks great, I just got my LSx into my 92vert and all wiring done( I am keeping the 3rd gen dash) waiting for my t56 to come home from getting rebuilt. while I waiting doing some body work and prepping for paint. Keep the updates coming!

Didnt get a whole lot done today. Mounted my top release button in the console
Got the new transmission harness installed. Went ahead and installed a new filter also.
4th gen carpet cleaned and installed.
Also got the motor mounts installed and K-Member notched for the A/C. Tomorrow after work I think we will get the motor and trans ready to install.
Here is a pic of the 3800 stall.

Love it. I've considered doing this. Was slightly intimidated by the wiring. I have a 2001 z28 to use .

That is awesome! My issue would be wiring as well I'm sure, using a switch panel and a universal harness. This will give me something to do when I'm an old man haha

how/where did you mount the 4th gen shifter? any pics?
seems like hole in the floor needs trimmed so my shifter can be mounted back a bit further.

Re: 1991 Camaro Vert Ls1 Swap and 4th gen interior swap
I had to cut out all the factory shifter stands and move the 4th gen shifter back a little, I made my new stands. To position it i just sat it on the tunnel and put the console where it needed to be and then very carefully pulled it back off being careful not to move it. You will have to cut a slot in the floor for the cable because if you run it threw the factory hole the cable isn't long enough. Sorry for the super slow response. Been busy

Looks like a nice swap Brandon...It sux that I pretty much funded this build and you couldnt do me the courtesy of a return call or text or email. Why did it take a lawyer getting involved for you to take care of business?
Good luck in the future with this one.

Re: 1991 Camaro Vert Ls1 Swap and 4th gen interior swap
Basically I purchased his 89 Swapped LSx Camaro that he built. After delivery of the car he had made an error on the title that did not allow me to get the car titled in my name. He was aware of it and we even talked about it at the time it happened. I asked him then and there if it would be ok if when I went to get it titled in my name if he would be ok signing an affidavit of error that stated no foul play was meant and that it was a simple mistake and he said "SURE"
After months of me calling and texting and emailing and facebook pm'ing him and leaving posts on his FB posts asking him to call me or contact me...I ended up having to hire a lawyer to get in touch with him to handle the issue that he created in the first place. So I am out the money for the lawyer, the late fees on titling the car and lot of time for nothing.
This compiled with the endless list of things that were not done correctly on the car and were not as they appeared, I have been less than pleased. I have already dumped thousands in the car and its going in for a PROPER paint job next week....not some horrible paper thin mess with terrible body work in places. I have lost interest in the car now.. It is titled in my name and good now but it was a shame what I had to go through in order to get it handled.
Cliff notes:
He signed in the wrong place on the title, his mistake. Agreed to fix, didnt/wouldnt - no contact until I hired a lawyer
Such a simple fix really. All he had to do was sign his name in front of a notary and send something back to me. Took 3 months and a lot of my money to get that done.
So...lol...anyone in the market for a 6.0 swapped 4L60 camaro with lots of work done and fresh paint...hit me up haha.

Re: 1991 Camaro Vert Ls1 Swap and 4th gen interior swap
Gotcha. That's terrible, sorry that happened. But as far as the body and paint goes, that kinda falls on the buyer for not giving the car the proper look over before buying. Still pretty shady business here.

Re: 1991 Camaro Vert Ls1 Swap and 4th gen interior swap
Agreed, Yeah..I was not horribly concerned with the paint and body since I was getting it redone anyhow. So I overlooked most all of that.
The car now really looks nothing like it did when I bought it lol

Did you use the 4th hen shifter assembly and shifter cable?
I did a Ls swap with the 4l60e and I want to use the 4th gen shifter assembly. I do not have my old thirdgen shifter assembly. I only have the 4th gen shifter with the shifter cable. What did you do to make it work? Any pics? Thanks
