Car: '90 Formula 350 Engine: 383 SBC Transmission: ProBuilt S/S 700-R4 & ACT 9" Stall Axle/Gears: 10 bolt 3.23 | Griffin or Summit Radiator?
Ok here's the deal blew a hole in my stock radiator so I need a replacement. Next spring going to a 383 carb motor if it gets built for street duty... anyways checked around Autozone wants 131 for metal radiator out of a 305... In Summit they have the nascar series Griffins 31 by 19s for about 190 bucks #125272-x... but Summit also makes a 31 by 19 GM for 180. I've heard from local shops about people having problems with some of the Griffins even though they use high temp epoxy. The Summit models say in description their fully welded with no epoxy, seals, or gaskets and their 2 row 1 inch tubing full aluminum radiator also. Just wondering how the two compare? I know Griffin's are very nice but I don't want to do a lot of work and spend more money for it than the summit one since it's already fully welded. What's everyone think?
I know these aren't direct replacement, but I'm willing to do a little fabricating. I've already searched and viewed just about everyone's posts on the griffin installation. As for the no heater hose return fitting I'll just feed that into the water pump. | | | |
