no fans please help

i searched every where and tried everything (except for whats going to work) but my car started to run hot so the other day i popped the hood and let the guage read a little over 220 and no fan so i tried to run the one ground wire so i can turn them on and off when i want but no fans i spliced the power wire going to the passenger fan and hooked it up and it ran and if i turn on my air the driver fan turns on so until someone can help me i ran a jumper wire from the driver fan to the passenger fan to keep it cool now if my car gets hot i kick on my air and both fns come on can anyone please help me

heres a good diagram, did you check out the fan switch yet in the passengers side block between 6 & 8 cylinders.

You have two fans? I thought TBI cars had one?
If it's a stock dual fan setup then the primary fan is set to cut on at 238 deg I think. You actually might not have been hot enough for the fans to kick in.

i havent checked the switch but i ran a ground wire to that wire and nothing happened and i didnt let it get up to 238 but around town it would jump up to 250 in know time and rpm i have a 91 droptop z28 (tpi)
