water pump for 1st gen 406

So..i did some research and it seems like the 3rd gen community likes the stewert pumps..I have acouple of q's tho..

1.do our 3rd gens use a long or short style pump?

2.does it matter that i bolting the pump to a 1st gen block and not the orginal L98..(sticking with the serp brackets/assy)

3.i checked out stew's website but theres a ton of diff attributes in choosing a water pump..Ill prolly go with the stage 2 but do i choose 69-86 model (72 block) or the 87-UP (91 ta)

Yea i know 2 and 3 are kinda the same.

You need a reverse rotation pump (long) if using original serp. belt system. It would be the same one that's on your original motor now.

According to my Stewart EMP catalog, part number 23123 is what you would need for the stage 2 (23123HP is their polished version if you so desire). 87-up, long style, CCW rotation.
