What Would Cause This?

Hi guys! My 1992 RS had been sitting for 4+ years and I recently got it going again. Went through hell getting it roadworthy after sitting, and fixed the problems that caused me to park it all those years ago. A new problem has reared its ugly head now. My radiator is leaking on the driver's side, it appears the plastic tank on that side is separating from the aluminum part; or maybe whatever seal there is bad. I don't have a problem with overheating, and I can replace the radiator myself, no problem. Just wondering what might have caused the leak? Any ideas?
Thanks!
Dave

i think its just age. my radiator just cracked one day. it happens to all cars with plastic tanks. i've seen it happen mainly to toyotas though.

I agree! You also might as well change the radiator hoses while you're at it too. Its cheap and easy to do, and will save you some headache down the road.

Re: What Would Cause This?

Thanks, guys. I figured it was just an old age/worn out part sort of deal. The car has never had a problem with overheating, at least not in the 8 years I've owned it.
I grabbed a radiator from the local junkyard... hey, it was a mile away and $25, plus its guaranteed for 30 days. I figure if it leaks too, I'll take it back and just go buy a new one. Might as well save a couple bucks if I can.
I'm gonna leave the hoses alone for now, they're relatively new and in good condition.
I'll be keeping a close eye on everything on this car, since it sat so long. More things are bound to happen. I'll replace parts as necessary.

Dave
