blowing out the windshield vent instead of the dash vents, , I put a new blower moter on today and it is still doing it and also is seems not to be blowing hard as well. Thanks for the help.

The "default" position for all the little airflow control doors in the system, is defrost.

They are vacuum-operated.

Since none of them are working, most likely there is no vacuum being supplied to the AC control head. It's also possible that the head is busted; but more likely, there's just a vacuum line unhooked somewhere. that's the usual cause of this EXTREMELY common problem.

ok kool well i tried to look for an unhooked line and i found one near that cruise control thingy near the battery.. i dont see how that has anything to do with my problem,.. its nowhere near the dash/vents lol
anywho...maybe with a stroke of luck my reattaching the line may fix my non working cruise lol
i'll post again when i get home tomm from work and let yall know how it goes...
at 315k i guess i cant complain too much, but its just annoying......

On the few cars birds I've worked on other than my own, the vacuum line for the vent controls has always come out of a rubber fitting below the heater core lines near the trans tunnel. It will likely be close to the passenger exhaust manifold on your car if its unattached.

It could come out other places as well, but thats where it was on my friends car, and where it should have been on my car if i had the line.

A vacuum line doesn't have to be anywhere near the controls it operates. However, most vacume lines run to, or Tee off of the intake/plenum.

The vent control in mine doesn't work either, but I just didn't feel like running a new vacuum line to the plenum. Previous owner yanked it out apparently as there isn't anything coming out the firewall, or even in the dash.
