Well, I cut a radiator support from a 91 firebird. It was stamped exactly like mine, only the rubber boots were closer to the sides of the car, and could hold a condenser.
So blah blah blah I finally get it in the car, and Im trying to replace my 20 3/4X14X1 core radiator. All the parts places in town want to sell me a 26x17x1 core radiator, with the ac option.
Does anyone know what cars would share my radiator? We looked at 82-92 maros and birds 4cyl-v8 and nothing but this radiator came up (anything that could work with my car at least)
heres why i dont want the bigger radiator, A, its not what my car was stock with, B i would have to redo the trans cooler lines because right now they wont fit.
And the biggest problem is my fan shroud isnt big enough. All of the cars from the junk yard were missing radiators and fan shrounds, all they had were condensers if that. So i dont know even if I break down and get the bigger one, where can I get an aftermarket or stock top radiator support?
next stop will be GM, I know they have a 7 year parts lifetime but sometimes i get lucky.
Most radiator shops can just replace the core of your current radiator and resue the tanks on the sides. Thats what i had done for my Nova because i wanted a 3-row radiator and the Big block radiators are 3 row but smaller over all, requireing parts that dont exist anymore. If your anywhere near Elyria OH check out Thomas Radiator, had it done in like a day for under a 100 bucks

I know what youre saying, I live outside of columbus, and theres a few good places my family used in the past with the car lot. But my core is perfect, the plastic cracked from the radiator falling through the rust and hitting the metal frame beside it.
personally, Jegs makes an ALL aluminum radiator that is a direct oem fit (if its 20 3/4 inch core instead of 26 3/8" core) but its almost 600 bucks.
theres these online parts places (i dont know how shady these are) but theres one that had a banner on here, and they have the size i need for 88 bucks.
it does not include heavy duty cooling, what does this mean?
As long as it fits, and my tranny lines hook up, the standard cooling works fine for me lol

Reason: Automerged Doublepost
somehow, my v8 z28 ended up with the 4cyl radiator.
Which is weird, because the trans lines, fan shroud, and air guides in the front fit to the smaller radiator.
I car faxed it and its an original z28 305 4bbl car, so i dont know.
Its weird, because everyone who has this 4 cyl radiator wants 300 bucks for it because it has brass tanks (mine are plastic)
so Im completely lost, the lower trans line snapped so Im going to get the bigger one, block off the a/c port, and hope I can find a shroud at the junkyard.
All I could find were v6 camaros/ firebirds and a couple V8's, However, all of them had electric fans, one was an 84, and the rest were 86-90. They had the same size radiator as the one I just bought (26 inch core) but all have electric fans.
Is my car some kind of mutant?
Is there an aftermarket shroud that anyone knows of? Chrome, aluminum, plastic, I dont care.
Im at that point where ive been paying insurance on a car that hasnt driven for 2 months. And it has the good tires for winter, so any imput would help greatly.
I dont want to/ know how to off the top of my head, but should I convert it to electric? I kinda like the stock fan, but ones gotta do what the gotta do :/
My 92 had a 2 core copper radiator and that thing was leaking everywhere. I am saving it for when I have money to have a bigger one made out of it because of the copper tanks.
I hate to say it, but I too had a hard time finding a fan shroud for a clutch style fan on my 84. I looked many places but could only find the shrouds for electric fans. I think Classic Industries might sell one but they are expensive. I got lucky one day on Ebay and found mine.
I have another radiator and am in Oh also. I would definitely convert to electric fan to reduce the parasitic drag on the engine from the clutch fan. There are alot of places that make shrouds custom though might cost about $125 or so but it will be aluminum more than likely it will be a one piece though which makes taking the fan off a pain but not horrible.
I was there a few days ago visiting some friends at tiffin university
I bought the 26 inch core radiator, now Im just hunting down the shroud
I looked at classic industries, and i think they have it for 66 bucks :/
Ill hunt a few more junk yards. Anyone with a clutch fan shroud for the 26 inch radiator laying around should hit me up. I dont want to convert to electric fans, I like the stock way better.
I know you are going for the stock look but be creative, I would think a Monte Carlo or Regal would have a decent shroud. I would go back to the junkyard and look at all GM cars...

way ahead of you.
I looked at a couple shrouds from many gm's. For the clutch type, they were either a 2 peice set, or had a long funnel setup because the engine sat 2 ft away from the radiator.
I took a couple oldsmobile shrouds and tried fitting them on a firebird there, but they were the wrong length.
I was looking for old montys, regals, anything i thought would resemble my car and then some.
Heck, I even went through the ford section just to find metal braces like the tbird has. no luck, everything is electric fan cooled.
I think the regal was my closest bet, but it was the complete circle 2 peice set and it had a funnel, that wouldnt fit into a thirdgen engine bay.
