So it very cold here in chicago. My temp gauge is very low not anywhere near 220 maybe in the low 100s when i put the heat on it blows room temp. But if the weather is 40 degrees or higher its right on normal temp.

well you dont have to worry about it over heating

stat has probably failed in the open position as said above replace it and report back

My brother has NO THERMOSTAT and runs a consistent 160, Thats stock radiator, water pump, 50/50 coolant and racing it around every chance he gets.

My buddy also had this problem, he replaced his stat and bing bang boom he was good to go, now it gets up to the 190 mark, but never above 200 as I have seen so far.

i was having a simmilar problem replaced my stat. with the low temps the hot coolant transfers heat faster. driving down the interstate its very noticable. i wish i would of pulled the air dam off or placed some thing in front of the radiator partialy restricting it. most semi drivers in the winter have some form of wind break for the radiator.

Exactly what I did.

I spent all kinds of time last summer to make sure it didn't get hot. Then about 10 minutes on the interstate in January and the temp was around 130*F . In town it was just fine even with the heat blowin full blast so I just cut a piece of cardboard to cover up about 2/3 of the radiator. Makes it easy to pull it out for in town, and now I have heat on the highway.

Lol if it's not hot enough for heat you clearly aren't driving fast enough :P
(Which is a paradox because higher speeds mean more engine work which means more heat, but more airflow over radiator which creates cooler temps).

I know it the stat. I really don't feel like pulling the throttle body off my tpi to get to the stat because its damn cold out. I do notice if I sit with my car idleing the temp will rise some and warm air will come threw the heat vents but when im on the move down goes the temp..
