Help With Reading Diagram

re: 89 Firebird TPI

I am planning a Big Three upgrade and my issue involves the fusible link (or is it a simple junction?)by the battery. I will run a 4awg wire from alt to bat + with an inline fuse of about 110a. The two wires (red and orange, or could it be pink and brown) that come out of the link and have the snap connectors would be run directly to the bat +. I've been looking at this diagram http://img331.imageshack.us/img331/6...roscan20nb.jpg trying to determine if I need to run an inline fuse before either or both of the connectors. It appears that I do not, am I right or wrong?

There are pictures of what I'm referring to here: http://www.thirdgen.org/techboard/el...these-2-a.html (Where Do These 2 Weatherpack Wires Go?) Any assistance would be helpful as I've been researching this for almost 2 weeks now.

Thank You
Eric

Re: Help With Reading Diagram

SO much for the help!

-the 4 awg wire is from alt to bat + ONLY, the amp is 105 amps, hence the 110 amp fuse (assumes 4awg can hold 150 amps)
-you say the red wire IS fused, and I can run it straight from the bat +
-the orange is NOT fused, I can run from bat + thru fuse to connector
-I was going to use the same gauge wire from the connectors to bat +, not 4awg

?-I do not know the gauge of the orange wire, I'm sure I'll find out when I hook it up, what fuse amperage do you recommend for the orange wire?

Re: Help With Reading Diagram

Ok, maybe you confused me. Why are you putting a 4ga wire directly from the alt to the bat? Is this a 1 wire alt?

Re: Help With Reading Diagram

Just read the posting, how it coming along? I just wanted to add one thing, you said "So long as my plan won't start a fire, I've read enough to hope that the bigger wires will help the flow of electricity. I almost with I hadn't read about B3, this has been a headache". With very large Gauge wire and it being short all your doing is lowering the resistance in it and upping the amperage and if you don't calculate right your just going to blow that fuseable link or something else if you don't put the link in there.
