Hello,I recently bought a 1989 camaro with a 305 tbi,after having for a while it started having overheating issues so I replaced the radiator,waterpump,thermostat and I got it a 14inch electric fan and for some reason the car is still overheating I checked the car and there are no leaks or anything.usually it only overheats when I drive down the highway,yesterday I had to run with the heater on so it would cool off because the temp guage was close to redline.Does anyone have any idea what might be the problem?

More than likely the temp gauge isn't reading right. Same thing happened with my car about 8 years ago.

Is the gauge reading the only reason you think its overheating? Or is it boiling coolant out of the top of the overflow tank? Need more info. Could also be a timing issue.

well yea I thought it would be the guage so I bought an aftermarket sunpro and connected it to the side of the heads and its still heating up but its usually when I drive on highway.And about the water boiling it isnt doing that usually only if I drive the car for a long time the water on the tank will be a little higher but not boiling,Im also considering it might be bad timing due to the fact that the idle is a little weird and sometimes the car will turn off on lights or it will kinda jump on me when im driving normally.

Another thing that would be a simple fix....is the air damn still on the car underneath? With the way you describe the idle, I would hook a timing light up to it and see where its at. Hope you find the problem and keep us updated.
