Need fans ASAP

Hey, Just wondering how hard it is to hook a switch up to turn my fans on manually? There is something wrong and the fans wont cut in so i'm thinking about running wires from the positive terminal on the fans and the battery. Do i have to bother with relays or anything like that or can it be done like i said?
