I just did both head gaskets on my lg4. The engine runs great but.... I have no temp gauge now. I filled up the radiator and overflow tank, but nothing in the block. Its only run for about 30 sec or so because i noticed no temp guage. Should i pop the tstat off and pour some coolant in the block? need advice please!!!

new temp sensor in the head and cts btw

ttt should i put some coolant in the block for startup?

Personally, I would.... I would also put a pressure tester on there before you start the motor too, to check for leaks and such. And also make sure that you have no air in the coolant system. Does the temp guage move when you turn the key? If not you have a wiring issue. Check your grounds (block to firewall) and the connection at the sensor.

the block to firewall ground is there. all the gauges lite up when i turn the key (except the temp guage) but nothing after. no blown fuses either.

the connection to the temp sensor there? put coolant in the block, make sure the system is full then start it up and let it run for about 5 min, top the the radiator, then repeat a few times untill the radiator is full. dont let the motor get too hot untill the coolant system is completely full otherwise you will get spit on by the radiator cap when you take it off.
