Minor overheating issues. Car wont hold temp - Third Generation F-Body Message Boards

So finnaly got my car out of the shop yesterday. Driving home I noticed that my temp has hit 220 and climbing. Mainly what bothers me is this is happening right after I installed an edelbrock tbi intake manifold in. Havnt had a single problem with till I did the swap. Ive got an aluminum radiator, 2 electrical fans(1 pusher 1 puller), and 160 thermostat. I know the thermostat works right and that the gauge isnt bsing me(got an external guage as well) Driving around town has become impossible now even at night. It takes some time usually bout 45mins-1 hour and the temp is passing 220+

Any suggestions?

Sounds like you need to burp your engine. Also, you don't say if you've got A/C or not. If your condenser is plugged with bugs, leaves, rocks etc. you may not have any airflow through the radiator.

oops sorry forgot bout that. All A/C components have been removed. And what do you mean by burp your engine?

If a car has gotten low on coolant or been flushed recently there could be air in the system. This is what he was talking about "burping"... With the car cold you top off the cooling system. Then you start it. Loosen the radiator cap to where it is still locked on but is loose.(some people just take it off. But it does get messy this way) let the car run until it gets warm enough to open the thermostat. And it will spit some coolant out. that's when you top off the radiator and put the cap back on.
With the rad cap on the system is pretty much air tight. When the cap is off it will allow the trapped air escape and you're replacing that air with more coolant. But be CAREFUL!! The coolant can get very HOT!!

Ive done that actually didnt know it was called "burping". Checked all the lines and everything else today. No leaks or any apparent problems anywhere, thinking bout getting that 3 core radiator. Mines out of a 68 camaro drag car, might be old and just not keeping up anymore. I dunno im running out of ideas
