Here is pic of ac delete I made for '84. I cut the evap case off as far from the blower motor as I could to get a flat surface to build on. I made an aluminum backing plate from .095 thick sheet and paterned it after the stock ac housing. The ductwork from the blower motor to the opening in the firewall was made from 22ga aluminum. the duct work tapers in depth from the blower motor case (about 3") to 1.25" .
The blower motor case and ductwork were attached to the heavy aluminum backing plate with rtv sealer and pop rivets. The backing plate gives it support and allows it to be fastened to the oe heater box inside.
To get rid of the industrial looking pop rivets, I applied a thin coat of dura glass. This not only improved its looks but provided a layer of protection to the thin aluminum and a little insulation from the engine and exhaust heat.
I'll have more pics next week of the finished unit and the modified interior heater box.
Is that gonna be an all out race car? I see you got some plans on the gauge cluster, and in the 2nd pic it looks like you got a kirkey laying inthe car too. Awesome work man

Is that gonna be an all out race car? I see you got some plans on the gauge cluster, and in the 2nd pic it looks like you got a kirkey laying inthe car too. Awesome work man
It could be. The car was a roller, totally gutted, no engine, trans, interior, or wiring. Pretty much just a shell. I built the car for my son and since he fancied himself as the next Jeff Gordon it took on a sort of stock car flair. Kirkey's. Roll bar. Simpson 5pt harnesses, custom aluminum dash with toggle switches and aoutometer gauges. Heck, we even pulled the font of the fender well out so we could fit 275-60-15 tires on 4" bs wheels all the way around.

My son decided not to keep the heater in the car, opting for the smooth firewall look, so this unit is available. Its been stored for a while. let me check it out to make sure all the blend doors still work and we'll work something out.
Does the blower still work in it. I was thinking of making one for my car. Also, how did you get a template off of the original box?
the blower and blend doors all worked off the stock heater controls. you can see the resistor block for the blower speeds mounted in the duct work just left of the blower motor. The heater controls allowed you to choose between defrost and floor vents and between fresh outside air or heat.
to make the template I just took the entire evap case off the firewall and laid it flat on a piece of poster board and drew around it. Once I had the basic shape and the location of the blower inlet and the firewall heater box opening I designed the ductwork to transition from one to the other, keeping it as flat and compact as i could and still have adequate air flow.
