cold/hot slider jammed

on my 88 trans am the slider that determins how hot or cold the air coming into the car is jammed at the half way point and i was wondering if anybody knows how to fix this thanks

There's a lever under the pass dash that this connects to, opens/closes a door to the heater core box - something has got it bound up.

yea i found that lever but it does not look like there is anything getting bound up
