In any case, you should be able to put vise grips on the end, and turn the nut off...its not heavy duty hardware. There is a bit that works on the end. Its basically an inside-out torx bit. But if you've chewed the end all to heck with pliers, thats not going to help you.
Ide just soak it down with PB BLASTER, not WD40 or anything like that, and then lock the vise grips on the end and turn it out. Like I said, its not heavy hardware...should come off.
