| Re: transmission cooler problems LOL..i think you forgot a "don't" in your post...
i have ran just an air cooled "add on" cooler on many of
my vehicles with no problems-on my old '69 camaro i
just placed a 15,000 gvw cooler in front of the radiator,
for my '82 camaro i mounted a cooler from a cop car
underneath the battery area with an 8" electric fan to
cool it when needed(thermostat in the tranny pan, temp
gauge too) best to run the tranny fluid at around 160-
180*.Unless tranny in your car was used real, real hard,
it probably burnt up because of slippage caused by
low fluid, failing front pump or other internal fault.
Should be able to get steel tranny lines at a junkyard
-if you can't find 3rdgen,probably could adapt lines
from a caprice, pickup etc with 700r4. ford explorers
and other ford pickups/suvs have a really nice tranny
cooler that should do the job nicely if placed properly. |
