My car has an external transmission oil cooler. There are no provisions to go through the radiator first because the radiator was replaced with a griffin radiator and it does not have fittings for the tranny lines. Second my stock hard lines are gone. The cooler that was on there is thermal dynamics which i cant find on the internet. Ican find the company but not this cooler. My understanding is that you shouldnt use just an external cooler. Maybe this is why the tranny was burnt up. Ther are just rubber hoses to the tranny. Is it possible to go to junkyard get an external cooler that would cool down my tranny. I want to burn up this tranny.

i have ran just an air cooled "add on" cooler on many of
my vehicles with no problems-on my old '69 camaro i
just placed a 15,000 gvw cooler in front of the radiator,
for my '82 camaro i mounted a cooler from a cop car
underneath the battery area with an 8" electric fan to
cool it when needed(thermostat in the tranny pan,temp
gauge too) best to run the tranny fluid at around 160-
180*.Unless tranny in your car was used real,real hard,
it probably burnt up because of slippage caused by
low fluid,failing front pump or other internal fault.
Should be able to get steel tranny lines at a junkyard
-if you can't find 3rdgen,probably could adapt lines
from a caprice,pickup etc with 700r4. ford explorers
and other ford pickups/suvs have a really nice tranny
cooler that should do the job nicely if placed properly.

Transmission coolers are cheap enough to buy new that I wouldn't warrant buying a junkyard one.

Make sure you get a "stacked plate" design transmission cooler. Mine is 11" x 12". Works wonderfully in south Texas heat.
