To the MOD's If you think this will help anyone, let me know and I get all the information loaded onto the site. I have been working on a system that will provide fully automatic control of a dual fan set-up while allowing the OEM fan control to continue to activate the fans as well. The system turns on both fans at the desired tempature, depending on the tempature range of the fan switch you select. It also allows the ECM to activate both fans when the A/C compressor is engaged. The OEM system stays intact, and unmolested. The OEM fan control will act as a back-up safety switch, and will activate the fans at the OEM temp range in the event of failure of the aftermarket fan switch. The entire control is electrically isolated from the ECM, so that no feedback can damage the ECM. The system is completely fused for safety. The system is controled through the ignition switch so the fans will not function if the ignition is not on. The ignition does not provide the load voltage for the fans, as the load is controled via relays from the primary battery feed. Although the system is designed to function automatically, a manual contol switch can be installed if desired. I have been working on this project for 3 years, and have worked out all of the bugs. I have the wiring diagram completed, and it can be downloaded at any time. The actual install is on my car, and has been functioning flawlessly for 3 years. It was a temporary install, and I will be completing the installation with pictures in about 3 weeks. The system is simple to build using off the shelf items from Summit Racing, or a parts supplier of your choice. I designed and built this system for my car, but will share the information with the rest of the club if you think that it may help some members. wow i just used a flexalite controller. it is mounted in front of the condensor. wired it in allowing the a/c signal from the relay to go to it. it also has two terminals that are ground activated. i have one that turns them on 100% and the other turns them completely off. i even wired in a light to tell me when they come on. it works great. they come on at 60% then go to 100% if needed.

This design is not the same as the Total Fan Control. I spent an hour and a half trying to load the wiring diagram onto this site, without success. The diagram attches easily to an e-mail, and I sent it to Jeff. I will keep trying to configure the file so that the format of this site will accept it, and then you can look at it, and see the differences. I am not trying to compete with the Total Fan Control design. This is an alternative design. After all, I am not selling it, but giving it away to help other members.
As for the ECM part, if one is not using an ECM, but has a functioning A/C unit, the wire that would have been connected to the ECM can be connected to the power supply to the A/C compressor, and the system will operate the fans when the compressor is engaged.
