Hey guys, I have a 700R4 that I want to put a cooler on, and not sure of the size that I should use. Specs are in my sig, but the tranny has a shift kit and a converter from a 93 Blazer(higher Stall, about 2000). Thanks in advance

Ok your car doesn't sound stock at all.
If you want to grab a cooler now you can get one from auto zone or advanced.
I grabed the smallest one advanced sells for about $25 or so, but I drive my car pretty easy and plan on keeping the 5.0L. I mounted it with ADAL clamps where it can get good air flow. I also put the cooler in line and and after the stock cooler/heat exchager.
You might want one of the medium size ones. You don't want the tiny one like I have (but it would be better than nothing) and I don't think you need the biggest one they have and want to deal with trying to mount it and in the process blocking some much needed air flow to your radiator.

I'm running an 11" x 12" Long Tru-Cool converter. (part # 4490) It's a big cooler. But it does the job quite nicely. Has the low pressure bypass which allows cold climate temps to bypass the cooler. Once it warms up, it goes through the cooler. Best of both worlds.

The next size down is the 7.25" x 12" converter. Would suit you just fine.

They're cheap insurance. I highly recommend getting a transmission cooler.

There are two thickness options. 3/4" and 1 1/2".......Mine is the 3/4" option. With that, it still leaves an air gap between the A/C condenser and transmission cooler (which is good. You don't want to mount them directly on each other)

Thanks, that is what I was looking for. I am going to pick one up soon and then install it once the car is off the road for the winter.

I've got one too. I can't remember the size of it, but I plan on installing it this winter with the new engine so the car is better prepared for some road racing action.

Do you think running rubber lines will be enough or should I do the hard lines and braided lines?

Let me know the size of the one that you got. At least I will have something to base my selection on. Ya I think rubber lines will be fine. Braided will clean it up that much better though

i used -6 s.s.braided to plumb in my tranny cooler,
-8 for the engine oil cooler

-8 is too small for an engine cooler, get -10 minimum.

so memory might be a bit foggy in any case has
worked great since '95(i'll check next time i have hood
up to see what size it is)
edit:just checked,it is -10(same as chevy used
on the '83 impala cop car)

I just got in from measuring my tranny cooler and it is 14"x7.75"x0.875". I'm thinking this is a stock cooler someone pulled off a vehicle because I can't find any brand name or part number or anything on it.

The tranny cooler doesn't have any threaded fittings on it so it seems that no matter what, I'll need some rubber lines and hose clamps. If I don't have too, I probably won't use the oil filter relocation kit that came with the combo cooler. Even if something doesn't work out for me, I got all that for ~$60 at a swap meet so it isn't like I will be losing much.

When reinstalling an oil cooler as a thru-core installation, the mounting hardware should be replaced. These are the same nylon bolts and nuts included in our Translife coolers and our HD engine oil coolers. Includes 4 sets of nylon bolts, washers, push-nuts and rubber spacers.
