I have an 87 IROC with a 700R4 Auto Transmission. My exisiting lines are rusted and are leaking. I have a new pair that I just purchased from Classic Tubes. These are direct replacements of the stock factory transmission lines. Can someone tell me the procedure on what is needing to do the job right when replacing the old lines with the new ones I have? Thanks.

give em a shot of penetrant, you can even cut the lines off at the trans end and the radiator end, short enough to get a 6 point socket on the fittings, then slightly tighten at first, then loosen. you can actually remove the fittings that adapt the lines to the tranny from the trans with the cut off line remnants attached and work the removal on a bench. save the clips that hold them together (if rust hasnt killed em) and clip the lines back together like factory.

Thanks for the reply. Thanks for the info on the clips that hold them together. However, should I remove the top line first that goes into the radiator and replace, then move on to the bottom line? Do I need to uncap the radiator cap when doing so? Also do I need to run the gears while my foot is on the brake while the car is running once these new lines are in place in order to remove air bubbles from the tranny fluid and add accordingly to level it off? Another question that comes to mind is.. how hard of a job is this, especially when having to wiggle these new lines in? Is it a PITA?

no sir, this is a super easy, no trouble swap, you WILL experience a large trans fluid leakage, from both the radiator and the cut lines-just bolt up the new lines and start the car up. warm up the car, with your foot on the brake-in idle-slowly select each gear on your shifter-then reverse the pattern, in park check your fluid-it wont be down more than a quart-top it off=yer done.
