| Re: need to remove these parts It's the heater diverter valve. It is controlled by the heat/cold selector slide in the car. When it's on the warm side, vacuum is sent to the diverter valve to open it up, allowing the hot coolant to pass though the heater core. When cool selected, it is closed keeping the hot coolant from entering the heater core.
It can be bypassed by simply taking it out, and replacing the heater hoses with longer pieces running directly from the intake to the heater core, and out of the heater core back to the radiator. This gets rid of the diverter valve, but means there will always be warm coolant running into the heater core, allowing more heat into the cabin.
You can also just remove the lines all together, running rge radiator line directly to the intake, and bypasing the heater core as well - but this means no heat in the cabin.
Depends on where you live, and how cold it gets, and personal preference.
