I'm not sure about that set up but if your going to do it be sure there is a in -line fuse. I believe a 20amp. As I said don't take my word alone. Get a few more opinions.

Re: is jumping fan relay and putting toggle switch ok?

Ive had the same problem since I got my T/A and Ive had the same switch on it for about 7 months now, and no problems yet ........Just remember to turn it off when you get out of the car though , that seems to be the biggest downfall

Oh yeah I did wire up an inline fuse BEFORE and AFTER it came through the firewall never can be too safe

Re: is jumping fan relay and putting toggle switch ok?

if you have to put in a switch use it to excite the relay and not carry the fan voltage.

the problems can be fixed in better ways. aftermarket controllers work great if done right.

Re: is jumping fan relay and putting toggle switch ok?

Check out the sticky- I posted the troubleshooting procedures that will take you to the problem with the Fans, HOWEVER... that will leave the stock control system in charge.

Use an aftermarket controller- you can get them at Autozone or Summit, etc for about $40. They are simple to install, can control both fans, and allows the A/C to kick the system on as well.

If you want to use a switch... The safest way is with a relay. Any Single pole single throw relay will work. Connect terminal 85 to a SWITCHED 12V power source. Connect terminal 86 to a good ground. Connect terminal 30 to the ground coming from the relay, and terminal 87 to a good ground.

This will use the vehicle's power source to acuate the fan system, WITHOUT using a switch that can be forgotten- to turn on or off, eliminating the possibility that you can overheat your car or kill the battery. One good point- it is ALOT safer than using a jumper wire and more reliable- although not as reliable as using an aftermarket control sytem- but it is cheaper. Happy Holidays!!
