TunerPro or Win ALDL file to play with?

I'm in college right now without my car. (Mines the 82, the rest are my dads). Is there a file I can download to play around with either TunerPro or Win ALDL to get used to it before I do the actual thing?

Also, what are my options for buying an ALDL cable and pluging it into my Video port in my laptop?

So far, I've found

http://www.geocities.com/steve3034/cables.html $65 shipped

http://www.aldlcable.com/ $39.95

Finally, can I use the ALDL cable for my 82 and my dads 90 and 91?

try ebay for the ALDL cable, i just bought mine from there and its real nice, and much cheaper if you find the right seller. or build your own!! its much cheaper!! and i bet you know someone at your college who can solder. when it comes to making it dont try and jam all the cable and wire into the 9-pin on the aldl site.....use your head and find a bigger "box" and attach the female 9-pin to it

Download TunerPro from the site. Also on the site are files you can use for practice. Just look around his site.

Check out moates.net. Craig makes a USB ALDL cable -- no serial port needed.

CABL1 OBD1-Style ALDL Connector [CABL1] - $30.00 : Moates.Net (CABL1 for 1982-1992)

You'll need the USB adapter too.
ALDU1 USB-to-ALDL Converter [ALDU1] - $50.00 : Moates.Net

Its $15 more than Steve Ruse for the whole setup, but onlike Ruse's, you get the AutoXRay-type connecter, so you don't have to do any splicing, just plug it in like a store bought scan tool.
