Car: 1989 Camaro RS (w/Z28 tags) Engine: 305CID TBI Transmission: Manual - T-5 Axle/Gears: Stock | 1989 Camaro RS ECU All right, well after failing smog twice due to High NOX (I live in CA), I have come to the realization that my chip in my computer might be the culprit. Up until yesterday I had thought the chip was legal in CA. I thought I had read that on the box. However, looking through the Yearone magazine I noticed it isn't legal in CA, thus must be causing my failing issues. It is a Jet Stage II chip; the previous owner gave it to me with the car. Unfortunately I can not find my stock chip, I have misplaced it somewhere.
I have decided to go the route of getting a second ECM just for smog then put my current ECM back in my car.
Now, my questions:
1. What, if any, are the differences between an ECM in an Automatic car and a Manual car? I have found one on EBAY for $10 right now and $12 for S/H; however, only one day left.
and
2. What other differences are there between the ECM's for the 305 TBI motors?
I am going to attempt to get the number off of my ECM tomorrow, but I just want to know if there are any differences between Auto and Manual and other differences I should be aware of. Thanks. | | |
