Have you thought about EBL? I'm looking at it closely, but I've never used it.

Why can't you program your ECM? Get a zif socket from Moates and install it in your ECM so you can change out the chips. There is no reason why you would have to change EMS's just to reprogram.

93-95 TBI Trucks with an Automatic transmission have the PCM. It has been hacked, is an easy swap, and is a VAST improvement over the stock ECM.

Re: 1228746 swap ?

My point was he didn't have to change ECMs to be able to program.

I have had a 92 RS with the '8746 ECM and a 95 Chevy truck. Reprogrammed both but sure wouldn't change ECMs between the two of them.
The RS ran great and the truck sucked, not saying it had anything to do with the ECM in either.

He wanted options, he now has two.

Having programmed both the 92 and the 95, I am VERY SURPRISED that you would say that. The Truck ECM has SOOOOO MUCH more potential than the 8746 does.

Re: 1228746 swap ?

LOL, the truck didn't have enough potential for me to get too deep into it. Most of my programming has been on the '7165 ecm. I played with the '8746 for gas milage. As for the truck, if it had a 100 shot of spray it would have had 200 hp. For some reason the 4.3 and 5-speed in a 95 1/2 ton was a joke and before I spent too much time tuning something that wasn't there I sold it.

I will not put down that ecm for the simple fact that I didn't spend much time playing with it.

I do know that "I" would not change ECMs unless I had to. When I went from TBI to TPI I had to.

Thats understandable, the 4.3/5spd ECM is not the PCM from my understanding anyway.

I went from TBI-TPI without changing from the TBI PCM. The PCM runs the 4L60E transmission as well.

Re: 1228746 swap ?

well, i wouldn't mind changing the ecm to something better. if i was to hook-up a programable chip to the current one, i wouldn't know what to buy. i've spend days on moates site and can't seem to figure out what is right for my ecm... i'm going to be able to put the car on a dyno at school and would love to be a able to program it then

I told you what you would need in the first post I did. You need a zif socket found here http://www.moates.net/product_info.p...products_id=44
and some blank chips.

Plus you will need the same hardware you would need for any other ecm.
