| Re: check engine light Warm the engine up first. Then shut off and connect a timing light to cylinder #1 (front left (drivers) side). May need to clean timing tab & damper to be able to see the marks.
Disconnect EST/BYPASS connector (right side near firewall, single wire with connector, tan with black stripe).
Start engine, get it to idle (it won't want to at first).
Read timing on damper with light and rotate distributor to 0 BTDC (for L03 TBI cars). Tighten distributor bolt, double check timing still at 0 BTDC.
Turn off engine, reconnect EST/BYPASS connector. Remove timing light, close hood.
