If you can let us know what is broken, we can give you a better feel for how you can get back up and running. If the chip is smoked, that can be replaced. If the rpacks are messed up, I can probably help you. If your knock module is messed up, you can probably run without it, or if you really need it, you'll have to find a new one, or you might be able to pull a module from a 4.3L memcal, it should be really close.

bottom line, more info will be most helpful.

Re: I Need 2 Buy Or Repair MemCal 4 1227730, Anyone ?

First let me say thanks to all on this board for the help to this point.
The car runs, but the CEL is on all the time.
The computer will not go into self diag.
I did the pin out and checks in the manual and the flow graph says it is the computer or the memcal.
So i guess my question is how do i determine which one it is?
I took the chip out of the board to hook up a Romulator, but decided to go a different route there, so the chip is in a proper socket.
It's a 305 chip, motor now is a 357 with 30lb injectors so its pretty fat, but once it warms up it runs pretty well.
I have a 90 pontiac that has a 7730 in in, i guess i could put the memcal from that into this computer and see what happens with the computer.
I won an auction on ebay for a 7730 and now the guy decided that he does nto want to sell the computer?
Thats my story and i'm sticking to it.

so maybe this means that the eprom is possibly fubar'ed. You may have damaged it while removing it. I'm not saying that to doubt you, but it fits the description that the eprom is faulty.

just so we are clear, you phsyically removed the 28 pin device and after replacement, it does not work?

it sounds like you can then use a moates adapter with an external prom, you can also buy from moates. this will avoid soldering a new chip in, and should work just fine.

do you have a burner? if not, you will need to find a way to get the image into the prom. Some here might be able to help you with that.

The car runs now, i dont know if the CEL was on before i built the car or removed the chip.
I plan on getting the NVSRAM as soon as they are in stock.
I dont have a burner, but have a bin file AUJP adjusted for injector size and displacement for may car.
