What Memcal Besides 16151348 4 1227730

There must be some other memcals that will work?
The 16151348 are so expensive now.
Besides the fuel chip, injector size, and displacement what are the differences?
Is the knock retard different from say a 305 memcal?
What about the truck memcals from that vintage?

Thanks,
Dave

The AUJP memcal prices sky rocketed and to my knowledge have been discontinued. You might be able to find the whole ECM on Ebay cheaper with an AUJP memcal in it.

The backup fueling is different between the 305 and 350. I know the knock filter resistor values are different between the 305 and 350 as well. My 305 doesn't seem to mind running on the AUJP memcal, running my own calibration piggy backed to it. Really other than limp home mode, I notice NO difference running my 305 on AUJP or AXXB.

Truck memcals of the same vintage will NOT run it, neither will a 1994 TBI Cadillac Memcal. I've tried both and get a cylinder select error code 41.

I've made a replacement board for a memcal, without any knock circuit. It's got a prom socket, and the netres parts. It has a footprint for a knock board, if you can scavenge one. a knock board from a 4.3 or 5.7 truck would probably work, or you could use an external knock module.

check out this thread:

if you are interested, PM me......I have a couple left.

As a side note when I first ran a 7747 I had a V6 van calpack in it(7747) car would run (350cid) but just long enought to get out of traffic. this happened when someone kicked the chip out of socket on floor pass side.

now my next ECU was 8746 and it was rebuilt and had no chip nor calpack. I found the firing order without a calpack installed was different. I believe the firing order changed so as to produce much less fuel(33%?). that drove my VE tables 3000-3600 rpms through the roof. I believe car ran better with CP installed as well.
