chip problems...

alright i bought this 86 iroc camaro a while ago with a 305 tpi. and the computer has some performance chip in it that the last owner put in it... the only problem is the chip is really old and it has a stupid fuel limiter program that acts as if the car has a gov. in it. it pretty much shuts it car down at speeds around 120. i tried puttin in another origional chip in from my friends car and that didn't work... can i just go to a junk yard and buy the computer and chip for the same car?

Re: chip problems...

No. That's a restriction from the original programming due to the tires installed on the car. The only fix is to get the chip reprogrammed.
