Can a 411 PCM run an LT1?

I've been reading through posts and have not seen the straight forward answer. I have a 411 PCM from an 01 Express van along with the wiring harness and distributor. I'm trying to figure out a way to run a 96 LT1 with this pcm by either keeping the opti or by drilling on the intake to accept a distributor. Do you guys think this is possible?

Check out www.eficonnection.com and you'll find info on the swap. He's really close to getting it done.
Mike will probably do it soon.
Oh, he's on vacation for week or so, so site is on vacation also.
I've talked to him about it and he's serious.
He built 0411 express harness setup for my 41 pickup with Ramjet/4L69E almost a couple years ago.

Re: Can a 411 PCM run an LT1?

I saw where he made an LT1 run with the coil on plug setup. I'm wondering if I modified the LT1 intake to accept the vortec distributor and use a 411 PCM with EFILIVE. I could do away with the OPTI altogether. You would still be able to get the correct signals to the PCM. Is there anything inside the motor to prevent this from working?

Re: Can a 411 PCM run an LT1?

i did away with my opti...
i built a megasquirt setup for it, and modified a single plane fuel injection intake to work on the LT1.
for ignition im running a crank trigger, msd digital 7, and sbc billet distributor.

this is what i would do if i had a fast lt1 street car, also.

Re: Can a 411 PCM run an LT1?

The LT1 will be going into my 1994 C1500 truck. I'm collecting parts to finish the motor portion of it this week. I found wiring diagrams for the L31 in the 01 express vans and also the wiring diagram from a 96 Camaro that should help. for now the motor is going in stock. when I've gotten all the troubleshooting and fixing the little things done with, I'll start searching for more power.

I think someone has done the LT1 L31 change.
I know lots of people machine out a dist opening and use LT1 intake on gen1 engine. You have the oil pump setup basically same in block.

Look through thread, there might be something there.

Re: Can a 411 PCM run an LT1?

you might be able to run the LT1 as it sits with the opti and 411 pcm. You need to use the cpk, crank position sensor, as the main sensor, the one in the front cover, you are in luck that you have a 96, otherwise, you'd need to get the cover, sensor and reluctor. you won't use the opti low side signals(the actual optical sensor)

the opti and vortec both use the same ignition coil, so the high voltage section of the opti should still work for you.

the only thing I'm not sure on it what the code does if it does not see a camshaft position sensor, I'm thinking it will set a code and then fire the injectors in batch fire mode. you might be able to program them out. someone better involved with these conversions can probably answer (S10wildside)

otherwise, if you wanted to do away with the opti altogether, and machine the intake to fit a vortec distributor, it should be plug and play, you would just need the 'plug' they(GM) sell to cover over the opti hole.

i looked online for about 2 hours last night before i gave up on finding this so called "plug." GM did a damn sh!@@y job at naming this part. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...0&autoview=sku
