W-B o2 problems.

I had the old diy-wb controller which was wired to the ecm so I could datalog. After lots of tuning I managed to get my tune close to where it needed to be according to my w-b. The problem was I had to take a lot of SA out for the car to be driveable under light load. When I go WOT from a stop the WB would show 12.5/1 (give or take) but I could see black smoke in the mirror. Normal driving the w-b would show 15 to 16/1 but the plugs show a rich condition.

I figure it was my DIY w-b so I ordered the LC-1 with the O-meter. I got it all hooked up and the O-meter did show the engine running richer than what I had been seeing so I figured I had the problem solved. NOT!!! I also wired the LC-1 to the ecm for datalogging and for some reason the O-meter will so one reading and Tunerpro shows another. Looks like I may not have needed the LC-1 after all.

Now I need to try and figure out how to make my AFR in the datastream show the same as the O-meter. Any ideas?

Dewayne.

'1765 ecm. ECM and LCI are grounded together. I'll get back on it Monday, maybe figure out something then.

Thanks

Re: W-B o2 problems.

Make sure you set the calibrations for both accordingly. I had same problem with EBL and o-meter reading different. The o-meter itself comes cal'd at 7.68 = 0V and 5V =22.??. EBL wanted 0-5V - 10-20:1.

You can always use LogWorks that comes with LC-1 to get a direct reading. LogWorks 3 is out now. I just downloaded it from their website.

Re: W-B o2 problems.

After checking out this link ://www.eecis.udel.edu/~davis/z28/WB_hacs/

I read the following
"Calibrations were done using a 0v to 4V potentiometer circuit"

According to the papers that came with the LC-1 its default output is 0v=7.35 AFR and 5v = 22.29. the O-meter is also setup for 0v to 5V.

No wonder my O-Meter and TunerPro don't match up. I hate to change the LC-1 and O-meter settings because I feel I'm getting the correct reading and do not want to chance screwing that up. Looks like I need to figure out how to change the bin or TunerPro.

To correct the TP display.
22.29 - 7.35 = 15.55
15.55 / 255 = 0.0609803 (use this as the multiplier) +7.35 offset
Should read exactly as the others now.

Sounds easy enough, I'll give it a shot tonight.
