| Re: ignition system With the security light staying on the starter motor shouldn't crank over the engine. The VATs system disables the starter.
With hte security light going off, the starter should be able to crank over the engine. If it doesn't then there is also another issue. If a stick shift there is a switch on the clutch pedal that interrupts the starter.
If an auto there is a switch on the shifter that will interrrupt the starter.
You can also use a DVM on this switch (auto or stick) to see if power is being applied via the ignition switch.
