1989 Camaro ECM from 1988 Camaro RS?

Just curious, my ECM is having issues in my 1989 RS; Would an ECM from a 1988 RS with the same engine and tranny be able to swap in the car?

Or would it not work?

Yes, it will work. Note that the '88 ECM is the '8063 while the '89 ECM is the '8746. But they will interchange. Be sure to keep the PROM that came with each ECM in that saame ECM. The PROMs can not be interchanged between the ECMs.

Re: 1989 Camaro ECM from 1988 Camaro RS?

Alright, good to know. So, you're saying that I should just unscrew the mount, pull off the old ECM, and then put on the new one? I know to disconnect the battery, then unhook the cables from the ECM, then take it off. Just throw the new one on?

Or is there more to this than that. What should I do after the new ECM is installed? Other than reconnecting the battery, of course.
