I have a 240sx with v8 and need TPI with all the smog stuff to pass smog ref.
got a wrecked 87 5.7L firebird to pull the intake and smog equipment from.
i know i need a new ecm but would the MAF harness work with some modification. or is it better to buy the whole harness for MAP and plug into my 87 TPI intake.
doing this on a budget. done a decent bit of wiring but my knowledge is severely limited .
thanks,
yes that does seem like a bit or work.
will the 91 harness plug into my 87 intake and all the sensors that come with it including smog?
assuming that I need a map sensor in addition.
Yes you will have to wire in the MAP circuit (I used the old MAF wires) and also the knock sensor circuit is different. With the 91 ECM you will need to use a 91 knock sensor. Just have to modify the 87 harness to have the knock sensor go directly to the ECM instead of through the ESC module that the 87 uses.

now that does not sound so difficult. what about all the smog equpiment? I am assuming from what I have seen in the chilton that it is all the same between the two years. in the chilton it looks like it would be a few more wires than that,
but it looks doable.
thanks
