I have a 1987 2.8L V6. It is the MPFI model engine. My TPS (throttle positioning sensor), Is way off. I hooked up a volt meter to it and it said 2.1 for idol. It is supposed to be at 0.5 to 0.7 on idol, and 4.5 to 4.7 at full throttle. I do not know how to adjust it. Please reply with answers
once you loosen your tps (2 screws, top and bottom) you can turn it like a dial. Turn it clockwise and counter clockwise is how you adjust it. Just like RBob said, play around with it and see what changes, if not by much, then replace it!
OH, and it should be on a V6 engine set at 0.35v to 0.67v! get it halfway in between, something like 0.50v-0.53v. 0.35v will run lean and 0.67v will run more rich.
It is a brand new tps. I loosened the two mounting screws and it adjusted 2.1v to 3.6 volts on idol.I have a 1987 2.8L V6. It is the MPFI model engine. the sensor should look like that have elongated holes that the screws go into, losen the screw slightly and turn the black plastic clockwise or counter clock wise
