305 to 383?

I have a 85 305 tpi and im putting together a 383, I guess im just confused on what type of ecm I would use. From my understanding the 85 ecm is junk. I plan on using the new BBK TPI intake (comes out this spring) that uses the stock fuel rail and harness. Would i need to replace the whole harness and ecm or can i just replace the ecm with a later model 350 ecm? I plan on supercharging on a later date, should i use SD or stay with the MAF?

Re: 305 to 383?

I'm not going to get into the MAF vs. SD debate. However, here is a link to a site where the owner did the '85 ECM to a '86-89 ECM swap. Then went from the '85-89 ECM to a SD '90-'92 ECM:

Lots of good information on that site. He also put together the info for each swap along with a bunch of BINs, pictures, and other tests.

Re: 305 to 383?

I understand the differances between SD and MAF, I guess the question was more about would supercharging still work if it was MAF system or would I have to swich to SD. Maybe it would work for both setups I dont know. Thanks for the site it should be really helpful.
