Hi, I am new to the third gen. Have a second gen for over 30yrs. Always wanted thrid gen, just bought 84 z/28. I don't know much about ECM. The temp. gauge does not work. Can see what I believe to be sending unit in water jacket, wires hooked up. Is there another sending unit somewhere elese?

Will this cause problems with way the car runs? Does not seem to run hot, is a little rich. The light comes on only after running a few minutes.

The dash gauge should be run from the sensor in the LH head. Between 1 & 3 (1 wire).

The ECM uses a sensor that is in the top front of the intake manifold (2 wire).
