VSS input for 7730 ECM

a short question: at the 1227730 ECM with 8D (running a TPI) I usually have the VSS directly connected to the ECM, and the ECM supplies the output signal for the speedo (basically the ECM has the function of former VSS Buffers)

Now i have a 89 Van with mechanical speedo and a speed-sensor attached to the speedo, which supplies a brown speed output wire to this Van's factory TBI-ECM.

Is there a way to use this signal at the TPI-ECM? it would safe me a lot of time because otherwise I would have to get a new VSS.

They used that computer in different applications with an optical sensor.

Connect that brown wire to C6 on the computer. and disregard the B9&B10

That will work but you must be able to reprogram the chip.
Option word 3 at $8018, bit 6 must be cleared to enable to optical input.
