VATS module...how does it work??

I was looking at some ECM pinouts, it looks like the VATS module has a one wire interface to the ECM. Does anyone know how that operates? Does the module send a 'yes' or 'no'(a high voltage or low voltage), or does it send a serial stream that enables the ecm? Reason is, I've got a whole tbi set-up from a caddy(L05), and I didn't get the VATS module. Is there an easy was to bypass that w/o the VATS module? Oh, does anyone know what it looks like/where it is located? Thanks in advance.

Yes there is an easy way to bypass it. If you get the stuff to burn your own prom with you can defeat that feature in the program.

jwscab,
you can either buy VATS bypass module ($125)
or rip it from the chip. the C16 pin i believe
is the VATS wire. a chip rip is easier. less
wiring and more reliable.

Rip the wire? Chip rip? I'm not sure I follow you but the only way to defeat VATS/PasskeyII without a working module is to build/buy an eliminator module or by defeating the feature in the prom. If you have prom burning equipment it's as easy as a two minute deal.

well, the problem is that it is a caddillac(16159280) computer, so i would have to dig in and try and find the vats stuff in the binary file. I'm not a software guy, so I'm a bit lost if there isn't a good definition for the prom. I'm a hardware guy which is why i was asking if it would just be easier to ,say, tie the vats pin on the ecm to a +5v or ground, but if the module sends a serial stream through the ecm pin, then I would have to get the module, and then just tie a resistor to the input wires of the module anyway. Unfortunately, it's a pain becuase it's not the usual hacked ecm, and i just plan to install the system completely stock.
