$8D vs $88

sorry, this is probably a stupid question but I will probably have many of those as I am trying to figure allll of this programming stuff out. ok, question.....how much difference is there in the $8D and $88 masks? which one would my 730 ecm use on a 91 RS 3.1 automatic? also, what does BLM stand for? and, some of the other common abbreviations.

I am building a new engine (should be fairly "wild") and am planning on being able to burn my own chips but I am having somewhat of a hard time obsorbing all of the necessary info. I have already bought the programmer (bought off eBay - by Western Technologies @ www.batronix.com) and I have downloaded a few programs such as the software that came with the programmer (Prog-studio), tunercat (demo v.), WinALDL, and WinBin. any help/advice in any area of programming these chips would be greatly appreciated.
