I use 18-22 awg tap splices. No cutting or soldering required. It barely leaves a mark in the sheathing of the ECM harness wires. And bullet (butt) connectors on the other end.

That's a great idea, I forgot those things existed. Where did you go to buy them, are they common or did you have to mail order?

Yeah, they work well. Available just about everywhere you'd expect to find them - Radio Shack, Kragen, Ace, True Value, Home Depot, etc.
