last weekend I’ve replaced the stock ANYF 9356 with an modified ARAP.bin.
The modifications are:
- Fan Turn On Temp. changed to 211,3°F
- Fan Turn Off Temp. changed to 200,3°F
- VATS disabled
- Checksum disabled (AA in TunerPro)
- FANNO changed in 4th Airflow word mode
The higher spark advance and TCC lock/unlock make the car feel sportier and the high spark advance allows better light throttle acceleration.
By checking with Diacom I found that the BLM’s are very high, 160 in idle and ~145 while driving. With the stock chip these values are between 127 and 138.
Is ANYF for a 350 (22 lb/hr injectors)? ARAP is. That could explain some of the difference, but I'm not sure what ANYF is. Someone else knows though - and will hopefully tell us for sure.
Sounds like you are running very lean. Try fooling the computer by changing to 19#hr injectors in your bin file. A second (and better) option is to increase your fuel pressure if you have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator (AFPR).
BTW, are the BLM's that high everywhere, or just in some cells??? If it's in some cells and others are ok, then things get a little harrier for the beginner. I'm trying to get all the knowledge on the subject I can before I take on that project myself........ At least I have a PROMinator, that makes changes much easier!!!!
Glad that worked for you! The reason why I said raising fuel pressure would be better is that you would get better fuel atomization with the higher pressure. That means better power and better gas mileage. That's why the newer cars (LS1 series)are running 58# of fuel pressure.
This begs additional investigation. For a chip swap where the injector constants are the same (has this been confirmed by reading each Eprom chip?) and the BLMs go from 128 to 160 does not make any sense. Was anything replaced or taken off the engine?
Could be a vacuum leak or a suddenly faulty O2 sensor.
thanks for your reply. I agree with you: the different BLMs do not make any sense. But the injector constants are the same. I've read the original ANYF chip and the constants were 22,36 lbs/hr.
The calibration for the new chip is 22,36 lbs/hr too.
The engine has NO modifications, the only things being replaced are the injectors and the thermostat (now 180°F).
The engine is running well with the ANYF chip, except from an Error 34 which appears every few weeks. I've cleaned the throttle body and replaced the IAC. Plugs, cables and distributor parts and O2 sensor have been replaced with Delco parts.
I've done a lot of test drives with the ANYF chip, the logged data files all show BLM values from 127 to 138.
Have you compared the MAF scalars and MAF tables? If they're different, that would change the BLFs (although I wouldn't expect them to be different). Can't think of much else that would make such a large difference.
I didn't check them, but you are right: both are different!
Is it better to make the correction by changing the injector constant (like I did) or should I copy the original MAF tables and scalars into the new chip while leaving the injector constant unchanged?
