454 and 700R4 with 1227747
I suspect that this has been answered before, but I can't find it anywhere.
I put a 700R4 (updated for the power/torque) into my car behind my 454. I have a 1227747 installed. I have a couple questions:
Did GM ever put 1227747 into a truck with a 7.4L and a 700R4? Or just the T400?
Which is the best bin file to use with my combination?
Thanks for the help.
John.

Since the 350TBI pickups used the '7747 and the automatics were all 700-R4's, it may be easier to take a 350 .bin and modify it for the larger displacement than to try to find a .bin that may or may not exist.
Just MHO.

A little internet research indicates that the 454SS trucks had a TH400(E) the first year and then the 4L80E after that. I have not been able to find any information yet on what the difference is between a TH400 and a TH400E.
Did the 454SS have the 1227747?

Why do you need this bin any way, and yes I believe the 454ss had a 700r4.
Good luck finding a bin though!

I want the ecm to control the lockup in the 700R4. If all the 1227747 based 454s drove TH400 transmissions, then can I still control the lockup torque converter on a 700R4 with the bin?

All 7.4's from '87-'89 had the '7747. Starting in '90 they got the '8747, as well as the '7470 and '7060 from '91-'93.
Seriously though, if you have a chip burner, just use a TBI350 vin K '7747 .bin and import the calibrations (except for the tranny stuff) from your current .bin.

I'll search my bin library and see if I can find a 7747 454 manual calibration. But if not, I'll do a quick compare to see the GM did universally.

The truck calibrations are so miserable, that I'd suggest using a 350 auto .bin, and then look at the BPC, VEI+II tables, and main sprk from a 454, and import them into the 350 .bin. Then tune as necessary.
Be sure to run a search for 454, and 747 here, and catch up on all the patches, and details about that engine/trans..

Thanks for the help. I've been tuning for a couple of years (off and on) with a 454 manual bin. I'll start with a 350 auto bin.
It'll be a few days yet till I get my exhaust back on my car, and then I'm taking a vacation for a week, and then I hope to get to work on tuning again.
John.

So much for taking a few days -- the side pipes arrived today, they are on, and they sound SWEEEEET!
Is any of the 350 auto bins better than the others?
Thanks,
John.

Car: 1990 454SS
Engine: 454
Transmission: TH400
All 1990 454SS's had the 8747 with TH400, the 91-93s had the 7060 with 4L80E. My 1990 had a 700R4 that I put in, until I killed it - went back to the TH400, one day will do the 4L80E. My 1990 also has a 7060, but I put that in too.
