16197427 and $31

In my research on using a seperate ecm to control a 4l80e I have found this is the newest obd1 ecm used by gm.

Thinking of going this route, and with my Tahoe in driveway having this ECM already is making decision easier.

I have found the bin, but have yet to find anybody mention modifing it, here, diy-efi and many of the searches I have done.

I do see tunercat has a tdf file for it.

Anybody else played with it yet, for anything (fuel, spark or tranny?) know if it will do what I want, etc before i buy the tunercat program files for it?

Would really like to find an ecu as I like tunerpro and use it on my other vehicles, but have yet to find one. I guess I can look at the hac and build one.

I guess I am treading new ground here.

This is probably good.

Didn't find an ecu, so looked at what it takes to create one.

Light finally turned on today, started with an $OD.ecu file, and the 31 hac file. All as clear as mud now.

So far I am liking it and making progress.

I think this ECM being so widely used and with tranny control built in could be a nice new (10 year old) advance for us.

Might even write a quick tutorial on how to write an ecu file, as it isn't to difficult with a little luck.

There are a lot of people tuning this PCM. I have 2 TBI/4L60E vehicles running this PCM and have been messing with them for a couple of years. This PCM is gaining popularity and support among the diy crowd for many reasons, e-tranny support, 8192 baud rate and a wide variety of applications including CPI and PFI. It will run a few different masks, the $0D TBI mask bieng the most popular (myself and a couple of other diy'ers namely 89350STRO developed the $0D .ecu). The $31 mask is for the HD TBI truck applications which run the 4L80E. There is an .ecu file for this mask on the TunerPro website in the downloads section. If you need any more info, let me know as I have done countless hours of research and tuning.

I forget where, but in poking around, supposedly the 31, 0E, and 0D masks can be swapped between the later truck pcms.

The 0D is labeled as the light duty.

A quick glance some time ago, seemed to be the Heavy Duty just used firmer shifts, a slightly more agrressive timing table. I remember using some of the heavy duty stuff for some of the shifting in my 7060.

PFI use? You have my attention!! I wasn't aware of being able to use that PCM for PFI applications. I would like to use a LT1 PCM (Flashable) but not the optiscrap distributor. Besides, I already have a TPI harness that has pretty much the same connectors.

Just did a little thinking (The smoke detector went off in the hallway....) and realived that the CPI would be the same as what PFI would need. Correct? Fire the injectors all once per DRP? Therefore, to use a PCM, you would just start with a CPI .bin. The bad thing here is that the CPI's were only V6's.......

Interesting.....

(Sorry if I'm hijacking this post....)

Ok, I feel about as smart as a rock now.

Can't tell you how many minutes/hours I spent looking for a $31 ecu file. I know I looked at tunerpro site already.

Whats that saying about a snake?

On this note, the 4l80e is going into my typhoon which obviously has the 749 computer already.

Anybody figure a way to run 749 code in the 7427, saving me a 2nd computer?

That would be fairly trick setup, but with my inability to even see a ecu file under my nose, makes me wonder how I get dressed in the morning. I think I do anyways.

Just played with the 31 file, noticed it is missing a lot of stuff, so I guess my "education" today isn't all bad. I now know how to add to it, and update for everybody.
