Error creating log file in Tunerpro RT, but ALDL 8192 baud is working fine.
Hey guys (I sent a duplicate email of this to Mark but I know he's busy)
I have TunerPro RT datalogging of the '165 ECU w/ 6E mask to work properly with my homemade 2 transistor cable. I am connected at 8192 bps with no errors at all, and I was able to remove the 10k ALDL resistor to log in normal running mode. However, when I click record to start a new log file, I get an "error creating log file" message. Is this a program error? All of my sensor data, ecu status data, and sensor graphs work perfectly while logging. I am running a Gateway Solo 9500 PIII 900 mhz laptop with 256 megs of ram (yes it's a dinosaur). My ALDL 2 transistor cable is serial (It is directly serial into a serial port, I don't have the problematic serial--> USB adapter that some others have). Has anyone had the same problem with Tunerpro RT ALDL'ing correctly but not recording a log?

I think you just need to "name" the log file using the "select log file for rec/Play".
If you type a name it will ask to create the file if it does not exist.
then you'll be set.
Sorry to resurrect this one from the dead....but since Im not the only dip that did this ...thought I might save the next dumbass, that does this, some time searching. Maybe add to the stickies for TunerPro problems?
You see, when you simply hit the record button you get an error such as the one I posted in the first screenshot.
So I figured it must be a setting in ALDL setup. ( next screen shot)In this screen shot I didnt realize that by simply entering a name and selecting open, that the program will prompt you and ultimately create the log file for you ( see last screen shot where by after I entered a name "APYULog" or whatever you want to call it, the program prompts you to create it) .
I did look in the help section of TP but its not there. I guess I was thinking, as the last person did, that you need to select a valid, already existing file to load. ( I even created a text file and renamed it to contain a ".adl" extension.)
This functionality will improve in a future release. In v5, if setup to do so in preferences, TunerPro will always log while monitoring, and you can choose to keep the already saved log file when you hit stop, and have the option until you attempt to monitor again.
