LS1 coil wiring

hey all,

I was just wondering if anyone has any experience wiring the LS1 coils. From this schematic it looks like the coil is sent a 12V signal from the ecm, that uses a coil driver (transistor) to charge the primary side of the coil.

I seem to remember someone ( think it was Rbob) that said the signal was a 5V signal. Is it possible to send either a 5V or a 12V signal to these coils?

I guess I am just curious to see if anyone has any literature on these coils.

thanks a bunch

its a 5volt signal. the coil transistor also has some smart logic in it. it will hold the charge for x amount of time. in fact its only looking for a firing signal. it pretty much handles dwell iself. its a pretty trick pony.
