There is a lot of good information in here but I can't seem to find what I am looking for. Does anyone have any information on programing a pre fuel injection car? I have a stock 85 T/A and it has the computer controled quadrajet. I was going to put a bigger cam in it but can't find anything that might work with the computer. The timing chane is bad so I thought I would replace the cam at the same time. I would like to do further mods but the buget wont allow it at this time.
Try searching here under CCC and computer controlled carburetor(CCC). There was a rightup on it and someone did indded hac it out if memory serves correctly. I dont know the exact post name but you should get something
I spent all weekend searching here and in other places on this site with no joy. I have also tried searching on the web and still can't find anything. The only thig I could find had to do with fuel injected vehicles.
I doubt you're going to find an ECU file lying around for your ECM. However, I think some work was started on the 1228079 CCC ECM as per the board's archives. Although just about anything is possible, I can personally attest to reprogramming a 1228330 CCC ECM. Fortunately, this ECM's EPROM and layout (1988 model) was virtually identical to its fuel injected brothers. So, the existing tools worked very well.
This would appear to leave you with only a couple of options. Either "upgrade" CCC ECMs to something newer that's been hac'd or start learning what's in your '85 chip and go from there.... If you're interested in the 8330 information, let me know. I only modified the TCC tables. It was by no means a complete work.
Any luck finding anything? I have an 85 CC quadrajet too and would like to get into reprogramming it. I was able to find the GM ZZ4 upgrade chip bin though. Not sure if I can use it with my ECM though.

Just my 02cnts
Is there any real benifit to tuning the fuel side of a CCC setup ?
You might look at converting your big cap HEI to a 7pin module and swapping in a 746/747 or 730 ecm and use it for spark only tuning. Then do what ever you want or need to do to get the quad situation to work in your state.
Then upgrade to efi later if desired.
I don't know that there's any advantage to the closed loop fueling outside of maintaining a 14.7 ratio via feedback for economy. (It's up to the user to decide if that's a good thing or not....) For someone who is comfortable with Q-jets, I'm sure there'd be an advantage in knowing what/how to modify the carb for different engine mods (i.e. cam/headers).
The CCC systems should have an HEI that will "play" with the later ECMs just fine. It has the same interface for sending the ECM engine position/speed information and EST/bypass signals.
Well really my goal would be to change the timing profile, but you know its an excuse to tinker. I downloaded the bin of the ZZ4 chip maybe I can just run that in my ECM, but I think I might have to replace my ECM though.
This topic arises periodically. I've started a thread or two myself. Being generally lazy, I had hoped that someone else had already done the hac, and had some idea. It would be nice to be able to alter the timing, TCC, and a few other devices. I see little benefit for rying to alter the A/F, since that's easy to do with the carburetor itself. It seems that there are enough of these in use that being able to wake up the vehicle through timing and TCC would be nice.

I made an ADS (A7 protocol) for my 85' grand Prix CC QJet.
Could not get it to connect with TP. Something stupid and small is the cause just never finished the project.
My two transistor cable works with WinALDL good (BTW, Must install the 4K resistor for carb applications)
If someone want to try it, send me a mail and I'll send it to you.
If you find what I did wrong we'll post it for all to have.
The "CPK" is the bin for the 85' cars (listed under the tuning guide IIRC)
Not sure if anyone hac'd it far enough to make a definition file from it.
The hac file was moved to "40.zip" at Moates site (Source & Hac).
Look for "1228079.ecu" file and import it.
Just found it myself
I see what the problem might be is that I don't have a command string?
I forget if I had to jump in a 4K or 10K resistor between the ALDL diagnostic input and ground to data to start.
Do you need one with the CCC ?
It'll need either the 10K or a short between A & B (can't recall which). Also shouldn't drive CCC setups while in this mode. It does all kinds of funny things to various stuff under the hood.
