Does $8D use VSS and P/N for anything fuel related

Ni hao,
Quick questions about rumors I've read, and would like clarified -
Just don't want my dad to fudge his 91 TPI motor in the 79 Malibu in its current configuration.

1) Other than a speed limiter, does $8D use VSS or P/N for fueling (like allowing PE mode, DFCO, etc...)

2) What could be some problems without running them (other than TCC lockup, and idle control problems). Fan probably runs at all vehicle speeds, but that's no biggie.

P/N I cant comment on, always had a working one in given app, so I'm not sure there, never had to look into it. There is something about it I remember though, like maybe locking inot one cell or limited cell travel?

The VSS stuff is partially tied into the purge, throttle follower routines, etc.

Can get around some of the IAC stuff by bumping it up at the actual idle screw to eliminate the stalling. Might make for some herky jerky driving when on and off the gas, might not be as noticeable if your running non lockup.

By the way a newer 'Bu column would go almost right in and get u a park neutral switch to boot.
