Can I make ECM 1227165 with PROM 8958AMU work?

I am having a heck of a time finding one ECM in the entire Houston area which matches the numbers specified for vehicles using my engine. I have located ECM 1227165 with PROM 8959AMU from a 1986 305 Camaro, and am wondering if this will work with my setup. I am using a 1987 350 L98 MAF system with all stock wiring for a 1987 model vehicle. Can I simply connect the harnesses to this ECM and go? Since many people convert 305 systems to work on a 350 by simply changing the injectors from 18 lb/hr to 21 lb/hr, it would seem that swapping to a 305 ECM on a 350 system would have the same effect. I would appreciate any information of suggestions. Thanks.

Good luck on the swap. I converted my 1989 C1500 from TBI to TPI. I am using a 7730 ecm so I had to rework the harness. The 165 is the way to go, it is almost identical to the 7747 on the pim configuration. If you need any pin info., go to DIY-EFI INCOMING , it ha a lot of info. from a-z. If you need front engine brackets, you can get them from a '88-'92 camaro or firebird v-8, doesn't matter if it is tbi or tpi. Good luck!
