Looking for a 7749 58.xdf File?

I have found that using RT-Tuner in emulation mode works great for a 7730 ecm. I have put a new supercharger on my car and would like to tune the VE & SA tables in real time. I have the def file from c.a.t.s. which is 58ecm.tdf

Is there any way that could be used? or where and which xdf file should I use?

Any help would be appreciated.

Most complete and up to date I know of is at: NWSTP. They do a great job on it.

You say have a 730 ecm, then you want to use the $58. You do know you cant just switch the bin to make it work, right? Or are you switching to a 749' ecm?

Either way, like stated above the most current files for the 749/$58 ecm are at NWSTP

If keeping the stock TPI injectors or replacing with other high impendance injectors then keep the 730 ECM and put the $58 code in it. Only a handful of wires need to be re-pinned.

I maintain the one on NWSTP. It isn't a 100% yet but I am working on it. It is for both 2 bar and 3 bar applications. (95% of the tables and forumla have been validated, I am going through all the constants to double check them)

http://www.nwstp.com/files/paul/58_2...Beta_0.9.1.zip

RBob also makes a nice one that is on Moates. He keeps updating it also. The latest one is.

http://www.moates.net/files/3)%20Bin...s/58RR_V15.ECU

In either case you will need an ADS to read the ALDL stream. The only one I know of is the one I maintain on NWSTP. (Think it was uploaded to Moates also but that one has an error.)
http://www.nwstp.com/files/paul/1227...r_58_rev6a.zip

If you see any errors in either files I maintain, let me know and I will get it corrected.

Updated 749 Ecm Runs but needs help

Well, after repinning the 730 ECM to 749 ECM, I started the car and it worked like a brand new car almost. I did have to play with the $58 code to get working good in emulation. Thanks for the site to get the XDF file!!!

I did find a problem with the Speedtoys/~Bort solution for easy ECU change

If you look at the injector pinouts for the 730 they go into C11 & C12

They say to repin them from C11 to C12 and from C12 to C11 for the 749 ecm

They also talk about switching the IAC pins around. But on the schematics for the 730 & 749 the wires are in the same locations. I will have to play with that once the car goes into closed loop to see if that matters.

Found the 749 Schematics on NWSTP.com that shows the
injectors at C10 & C11 So, I followed the repinning by the schematics, which was a smart move.

Now this is my newest and appears to be my last major problem

I can't get the ALDL file to pick up any readings on Tuner-pro or my Snap-on Scanner. I did download the newest ALDL stream file and still didn't have any luck. I have ohmed out the pins on the ALDL connector to the ECU and they appear to be ok. Tried it in 160 bit and it did say that ALDL was connected but still didn't display any information from Laptop Dash on Tuner-pro

Are there any special settings in Tunerpro to get this to work? It worked great with the 730 ECM.

Once I get the ALDL to work I can start tuning and finally get this on the road. Any help or ideas to get to work would be greatly appreciated.

Did you get the ADS file from NWSTP You need it for the $58 bin. The ALDL communcations are different than the $8D.

The injector wiring confusion is due to some people running P&H injectors and some running high-Z injectors. If you have Hi-Z then you wire it like the Syclone. Yes, the IAC wiring doesn't need to be messed with. It is only a couple of pins that need to be moved.

Autoprom & 7749 ECM

I downloaded the ALDL Files the same time I got the $58 from NWSTP.COM and it didn't matter. After doing a search on Moates.net and Thirdgen, I noticed that almost no-one has been able to run it in Autoprom mode. Mangus says that it is because the 749 has an extremely short window to communicate is why there is a problem. They say you can either goto a pass through mode or Emulate. Not both at the same time. Craig Moates has been working on the problem for the past through months from what it appears.

I don't know my version of my autoprom but downloaded the newest firmware last night and will flash to the newest later today.

Since I would like to get this car running, I am thinking about running the 730 with the $58 in it. Good thing is I won't have to repin it to do this. I would be able to get it tuned that way until they get it figured out. I have heard that this is another quick remedy.

But, once the car is tuned, Can, I take the $58 bin back out of the prom and then replug into the 749 and not have to retune? I am thinking

Probably not, as the 749 was designed to handle boosted pressures.

My 87 IROC. <<My Distib, Manifold, ECM & Wiring, are velcroed in>>
Or they might as well be, They are removed at least 5 times a day. LOL..

I guess you will have to wait for the AutoProm design flaw to be fixed.
That ADS file and TP connects fine using other emulators. At Uproc speed the window is relatively large.

The code/MEMCAL ($8D or $58) defines if you have to repin the connectors, not the ECM itself if using high-Z injectors. There are still a few pins (2 or 3 if I remember correctly) that need to be swapped. Do a search for it at TGO. I have talked about it a lot during the Fall of 2005. Yes, once you tune the $58 on the 730 ECM then you can drop that right into the 749 ECM without any tuning............but why? You gain nothing be using the 749 ECM. You actually loose ECM connector pin drivers.

**********************************************************
The 730 ECM is EXACTLY like a 749 ECM, but can't drive as many peak & hold injectors. The 730 ECM can drive ECM connector pins that the 749 ECM can not. Other than that, the two are same. It is the code/MEMCAL that defines if the ECM can do boost or not.

Little Confusion from $58 and 730 ECM

I was looking through all the posts and still trying to get this to work. I have a bin called Finalburn.bin from Speedtoys/~bort62 which was almost exactly what I had my configuration. I figured it would alot easier to tune with most of the tables reasonably close than to start from a bare bin. Please explain this to me.

I am using the 730 ECM.
I have the Bin call Finalburn.bin that was setup for a 749 ecm
The XDF file I am using is 58_2&3bar.xdf
The ALDL file I am using is 1227749_2&3bar_58_rev6a.ads

I keep getting an xdf & ads file mismatch error. Do both of these have to have the same name or am I totally missing something here. I have tried to use my 1227730.ads file and that doesn't work either.

I am able to emulate through RT using the Autoprom using my AUJP.bin & 8d.xdf & 1227730.ads files and see the Dash display working on RT.

I have d/led all the files from NWSTP.Com as we discussed.

The mismatch error is nothing to worry about. You either have a different ADS file loaded then the XDF was set up to be linked to, or you have the ADS file in a different directory than the XDF. To correct the error, go to the XDF menu and edit the XDF Header (Or Hit CTRL + F2). There you will see a tab that says ALDL Assoc. Link the ADS file on that tab with the Browse button and then save the XDF. Problem should go away.

The reason the Autoprom won't connect to the 749 in Autoprom mode is it is real chatty on 58 and has a very very short window of time to get the ecm dump command in. Compound that with the fact the Autoprom takes the ALDL and wraps its own Code around it something just gets lost. But I don't think I have ever been able to connect in Autoprom with $58 on the 749. I have been working with Mark on it. The next version of TP should have that problem solved.

It is similar to the problem I have trying to connect with TP just to log with an ALDL cable on $58. Sometimes it just errors out. In the ADS file from NWSTP, when you see the error count rising, just send the SILENCE Command over and over until the error count stops. Then it will work.

So let me try to understand this just a little more. I already know that if you use the 749 ECM which we already know is exactly the same except for the repinning and it doesn't work with TP at all. But a 730 with a $58 xdf file and $58.ads file which might work with TP but might just keep trying to time out? But, if you keep hitting silence it should work right?

I also think over the last 3 days that I have found the source of my knock counts that are occuring at idle and higher RPM's.

Appears that when I put the 730 ECM in. I had to bypass the ESC on the firewall and connect the knock sensor directly to the ECM. My Accel Coil is mounted to the firewall and the knock sensor bypass wire was real close if not touching the coil. Possibly causing electrical interference. I have another AUJP memcal here and will try that also. I have temp removed the TPIS miniram with regret until I get this knock situation figured out.

Datamaster was showing me real funny results. The engine was trying to advance the timing like it should with higher rpm's. But with a continous knock counts it was trying to pull timing as much as 2 - 5 degrees at the same time.

MY ECM was going crazy

Should have my -6an fuel lines hooked back up to the TPI setup by tomorrow and if that works, Time it, then datamaster here I come.
